Effect of mulch type on physico-chemical quality of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) in semi-arid region of India

The influence of coloured-plastic mulching on physical and biochemical characteristics tomato fruits were investigated. During the study, crop was grown in an open field under five mulching, one organic mulch a no-mulch treatment. Harvested analysed for various physico-chemical post-harvest quality parameters. Results evidenced that sphericity tomatoe non-significantly (P<0.05) affected by highest fruit (0.96) observed yellow followed black (0.95). Likewise, average weight (57.59 g) lycopene content (2.99 mg/100 found red mulch. TSS (4.97) reported silver (4.90), while ascorbic acid white (32.7 (30.9 mg/100g). Under mulch, levels phenolic (59.0 μg GAE/100 as well antioxidant activity (10.50 μmol TE/g) observed. Overall results showed performed better, plastic treatments.
